SCENE 3

JUNGLE – DAY

JACK meets KATE on his way to the HATCH. JACK notices that her hair smells fruity.

KATE

Hey, where are you going?

JACK

To the hatch. I have to check up on Locke. Maybe ram him into a wall or two.

KATE

Cool, I’ll come with.

JACK

No Kate, you’re not coming.

KATE

But Jack, I-

JACK

Kate.

KATE

Jack.

JACK

Kate.

KATE

Jack.

JACK

Kate!

KATE

Jack!

JACK

Kate?

KATE

Jack.

JACK

Kate.

KATE

Jaa-aaaack!

JACK

Kate!

KATE

Jack.

KATE and JACK stare at each other for several moments. Intensely. They turn and start walking in opposite directions. Intensely. With intense… intensity.

SCENE 2

BEACH – DAY

HURLEY and WALT are playing backgammon. WALT is winning.

HURLEY

I’m tellin’ you man, they are so together. I’ve got a knack for these things.

WALT

Yeah right! That’s just… weird.

HURLEY

No, seriously! See that?

HURLEY points to where SAYID and SAWYER are trying to kill each other. WALT nods.

HURLEY

That’s what you call heavy flirting, dude.

WALT rolls his eyes and sighs as he pushes his game piece forward.

WALT

(shouts)

For the last time, Mister Locke is not a deranged maniac trying to kill us all in our sleep, Claire’s baby is not evil, Boone did not come back from the dead as a zombie seeking revenge and Sayid and Sawyer are absolutely not dating!

HURLEY

Dude… uh, it’s your turn…

HURLEY hands the dice over to WALT.

SCENE 1

BEACH – DAY

ROSE is folding laundry on the BEACH. JACK comes over and finds a large pile of socks. He inspects them thoroughly.

JACK

Listen, Rose, I don’t want you to take this the wrong way. You’re just doing your job, I know. And normally, I’d let it go. But this, Rose, this has got to stop!”

JACK picked up a bunch of assorted socks and waved them around menacingly in the air.

ROSE

But Jack, I-

JACK

Really Rose, I know you can do better than this. But frankly, I just don’t know what to do with you. It just seems that lately, you’ve been slacking off a bit, ya’ know?

ROSE

Jack the-

JACK

Rose, don’t start making excuses! I’ve seen it happen too many times before. When I gave you this load of laundry, there were seven pairs of socks. Now, there’s fourteen left socks. Fourteen, Rose! Fourteen! What are we supposed to do with that many left socks?

ROSE sighs in resignation.

ROSE

You’re absolutely right, Jack. I’ll get right on that.

JACK

Thanks Rose, that’s all I’m asking.
